WHAT IS GREEN JUICE? FIND OUT WHY IS GREEN JUICE GOOD FOR YOU
Green juice is basically a drink made from fresh green leafy vegetables such as kale, spinach, celery swiss chard, cucumber, mint, parsley or wheatgrass.
Because these lovely green ingredients aren’t as appetizing as most of us would like, many green juices include a fruit, like apple or citrus fruit, to sweeten the nutrient rich green juice.
Adding these fruits also adds that extra bit of liquid which makes it easier to ingest.
Our cold pressed ALG green juice includes the freshest spinach, kale, cucumber, celery, zucchini and romaine. We add apple, lemon and ginger for a tasty kick!
Just remember that adding sweet fruit also adds sugar, so try to watch your intake or choose fruits with a lower sugar content.
It should also be noted that green juice is quite different from green smoothies. We’ll get to that in a minute.
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF DRINKING GREEN JUICE?
A Delicious Way to Get Your Greens
We all know that we should have a balanced diet. Yes: Getting our daily dose of fruits and veggies, drinking plenty of water, and the likes are all on the list of things we have to do to get all the nutrients we need. But many of us either don’t have the time to make sure we’re getting all the nutrients we need, or we’re simply not paying attention to what goes into our bodies on a daily basis.
This is where the importance of drinking a glass of green juice every day comes in. It is able to provide us with the very best of the nutrients present in all the big varieties of fruits and vegetables, without the painstaking effort of making salads and veggie bakes, saving time, all while making it more palatable for those of us who don’t particularly like the taste of a lot of fruits and vegetables.
Most green juice enthusiasts prefer to make their own juice at home every day to ensure optimal quality and freshness, but many health stores and juice bars, such as Pure Green, are now making fresh green juice ready to consume immediately for those of us who simply do not have the time or the knowledge to make our own.
All this means that you no longer have any excuses not to get your necessary daily dose of essential vitamins and minerals.
START YOUR DAY WITH NATURAL ENERGY
Most people in these busy, fast paced times, turn to a quick cup of java during their morning routines. Many also tend to consume pre-packaged, pasteurized juice or even milk. Very few know about the magic of instead, turning to a fresh green juice in the morning to kick start their days.
A green juice is like an atomic bomb filled with antioxidants and energy. And these few people understand that green juice is a real game changer. They reap the benefits of taking multivitamins and consuming the recommended daily amount of fruits and vegetables, all in one little glass of brightly colored green juice.
Can you think of an easier way to start your day off so powerfully?
A HEALTHY, NATURAL WAY TO CLEANSE
Drinking fresh green juice is possibly one of the best ways to cleanse and detox.
When we start drinking green juice, specifically one made using specialized methods like our cold-pressed green juice, we are making the most of every single nutrient in these fresh greens.
Our digestive system needs to be taken care of, and by giving it some fiber, vitamins, and minerals in a green juice, we can actually cleanse our bowels and regulate our digestion, reducing bloating, abdominal inflammation, and those constant cravings for something more filling.
IMPROVES DIGESTION
Drinking green juice improves digestion by taking most of the work of actually digesting the food, out of the equation. By drinking green juice, we are essentially giving our digestive systems a break while still filling our bodies with all the essential vitamins needed to function optimally.
Many people add celery juice to their diets when faced with IBS symptoms, so adding a little extra green to that juice can only be better for you.
As we mentioned earlier, green juice and green smoothies are quite different. The main difference being fiber. When making a green juice you are essentially removing most of the fiber content, while making a green smoothie keeps all fiber intact.
It is recommended that we should be consuming a fair amount of fiber to keep our gut healthy and functioning optimally, but many people report symptoms of bloating and gas after their daily fiber intake. This is what makes green juice a great substitute for green smoothies.
BUILDS IMMUNITY
Getting enough leafy greens in your diet is proven to boost your immune system and keep you on your game. But as we know, its not always easy to prepare all your leafy greens in an appetizing way. Preparing a green cold pressed juice, or buying it from your local juice bar, just makes it that much easier.
The abundance of essential vitamins found in green vegetables keep our immune systems in top form all while providing energy and hydration.
IMPROVES ENERGY LEVELS
HELPS YOUR SKIN GLOW
You may be surprised to learn that hydration is not so much about how much you drink, but rather how well your body absorbs it. Fiber and electrolytes play an important part in this process. If your body is not absorbing enough electrolytes, you may not be properly hydrated.
That is why drinking green juice is so important, as it is packed full of electrolytes, keeping you sufficiently hydrated for the better part of the day.
Simple but Tasty Recipes
Naturally, delicious smoothies and the irresistible acai bowl are blended and are super easy to prepare. Superfood smoothies or a bowl can be made from scratch in under two minutes, and the simplistic recipes made with the perfect balance of only a few ingredients are not only easy to replicate but help to keep your COGS (Cost of Goods Sold) relatively low.
As a general rule of thumb, a successful juice bar should strive to keep its COGS at 28% or less in comparison to gross sales and revenue. Pure Green kept this in mind when the menus were selected.
AIDS IN WEIGHT LOSS
Many people have jumped on the juicing trend to help them lose weight. But not many people know how effective green juice can be in aiding weight loss.
Leafy greens are known for making you feel fuller for longer. Added to this, all the vitamins and the low sugar content, mean that drinking green juice reduces your cravings (especially those nasty sugar cravings).
Here’s a helpful hint: Adding lemon juice or ginger to your green juice will pump up the fat burning properties while adding an irresistible, fiery flavor!
HOW TO MAKE A GREEN JUICE
First, you’ll need about 5 ounces of fresh kale, 5 celery stalks, 1 Granny smith apple, roughly 1 inch of fresh ginger (peeled), half a cucumber and a handful of parsley. You can add juice of half a lemon for some extra zing.
Next, you need to make sure all your fruits and veggies are washed properly. Then you’ll want to cut them into smaller chunks to make it easier to put into the juicer. If you don’t own a juicer, a blender will work fine, but you’ll need to strain the juice before drinking it.
Lastly, you can add all your fresh ingredients to the juicer or blender and blend until you have a smooth liquid. If you’re using a juicer you can simply drink the juice immediately. If you’re using a blender, you might want to strain the juice using a mesh sieve so that you don’t have a chunky juice.
And Voila! You’ve just made your very own fresh green juice packed full of antioxidants and about 35% of your recommended daily vitamins! If you don’t have the time, or equipment to make this at home, simply pop into your nearest Pure Green franchise and we’ll get it done for you!
