GREEN INITIATIVE

PURE GREEN IS COMMITTED TO SUSTAINABILITY AND NURTURING THE PLANET

OUR COMMITMENTS

SUSTAINABILITY GOES
BEYOND POLICY

With our mission of building healthier communities around the globe, Pure Green is committed to sustainability and nurturing the planet. Pure Green is committed to running our business in a socially responsible manner. As a company, we are committed to quality in everything we do, sustainability goes beyond policy; it is a core value of our business. For Pure Green, sustainability means caring for the people we serve, the community that we impact, and the planet that provides for us.

Local & Organic Sourcing of Ingredients

We have the highest level of respect for our local farmers and purveyors and put a huge emphasis on locally grown produce whenever possible. We care about supporting independent growers. Going local cuts down on fuel costs and provides fresher ingredients. We make every effort to source locally and responsibly.

Reducing our Carbon Footprint

Since we started Pure Green, we’ve partnered with local farmers and suppliers not only to connect our guests with real, wholesale and freshly sourced superfoods, but also to streamline production as well as to limit greenhouse gas emission.

Imperfect Produce

More than one third of the fruit and vegetables we use for our products include imperfect produce. The shift saved over one million pounds of produce that may have ended up in a landfill.

Plastic Reduction

Pure Green continues to reduce the use of plastic. All of our 16oz cold pressed juice bottles and 2oz shot bottles are made from PET plastic that is 100% recyclable. Reducing the use of plastic is an ongoing business initiative, which we will continue to focus on as we grow.

We carefully select our vendors and distributors based on alignment with our core values and commitment toward sustainability. In the Chicago market, we source 80% of our raw ingredients from Testa Produce. Testa’s new building achieved LEED® Platinum Certification from the United States Green Building Council. The facility is the first LEED® Platinum Refrigerated Food Distribution Facility in the United States. In order to achieve such certification, the building was designed with a minimal carbon footprint and features renewable energy sources including: Wind Turbine energy production, Solar Hot Water Heating, and pole mounted Photovoltaic panels in the parking area. Testa has a Green Roof and the capability to make substantial re-use of rainwater through several techniques including bio swales, cisterns, and a graywater system for non-potable water use. Testa has left ample room for future growth with the goal of expanding the company in the years to come.

Sustainable Construction Materials

Pure Green uses Baltic Birch wood as a core material in our standard build. Birch plywood is a sustainable, long term choice that has little impact on the global environment. Birch trees are an abundant and fast-growing species that causes little devastation or destruction of biodiversity when cut down.
